About me:
I am Romanian-Swiss woman, a mother, wife, daughter, and sister. I was born and raised during an extreme totalitarian regime in my home country (Romania), which possibly made me quite `tough`, but which also stifled me and didn’t encourage me to have my own opinions, a voice or, indeed, identity. The frustration I felt sent me to the revolution square in 1989, ringing my set of keys and shouting for change. I never saw myself as a fighter before, we all felt helpless thinking that nothing will ever change, but then I learnt that with enough motivation, and the right opportunities, one can make a difference and change is always possible; even when the odds are very small.
Many years later, I still have a strong belief in positive change and a desire to support other people and organisations to thrive, have a voice and overcome their limiting beliefs. Indeed, I look to bring that same spirit of determination and belief in positive change to my coaching practice. With over 28 years of experience in the philanthropy and non-profit sector, I am committed to helping individuals and organisations thrive, find their voice, and break through barriers.
Professional experience:
I worked in the environment sector as an activist, manager, and consultant for seventeen years. Now, for the past eleven years I lead the organisational development work in a philanthropic organisation; funding at the intersection of climate, social justice, and human rights across 40 countries. Working in this sector taught me that change is not linear, and setbacks are part of life – therefore I bring a lot of patience and empathy to my coaching practice. But I am also acutely aware that the world is in urgent need of change, and there is an urgency needed to address pressing human rights issues and the climate crisis.
Gaining first-hand extensive experience in capacity strengthening, organisational development and grant-making with international organisations in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and in the Brussels institutions, I became interested in organisational resilience after realising how many non-profits struggle once resources become scarce. I led a research programme which concluded with the publishing of an Organisational Viability Toolkit which was translated into several languages and has been used by hundreds of non-profit organisations in the CEE region.
I hold a Master’s degree in Training from Leicester University, UK; a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Bucharest, Romania; and I am a certified associated coach with the Academy of Executive Coaching.*
